I love cheese.  The French love cheese.  Therefore we will take two days to study the cheeses of France.  Click here for your webquest and behold the power of fromage.

To end this unit, you are going to create a family album.  It is you will need the following:

• Describe at least 5 members of your family and their relationship to you. (10 pts)
• Give me their name and age. (10 pts)
• Describe them using at least 3 adjectives.  Make sure to modify the adjectives according to their subject. (10 pts)
• Tell at least one thing that each person likes to do. (10 pts)
• Provide pictures of your family.  Your family can be either real or imaginary.  Entertain me. (10 pts)

You will present your albums in French on Monday and Tuesday to the class.  This is a performance task, and it will be graded.  Work on pronunciation and grammar.  I will be grading these things as well.  If you need an example please look above.

A Grisly Tale

The holiday season is not always warm and fuzzy.  December 6th is le jour de Saint Nicolas (Saint Nicolas Day) in France.  Saint Nicolas comes to visit children and bring them gifts.  We will be learning about Saint Nicolas and his friend Père Fouettard this week.  However, the story of how he came to be the patron saint of children is pretty grim.  Watch the film above to learn this grisly tale.

Le verbe "avoir"

Avoir is an irregular verb and one of the most important that you will use in French.  Use this video to help you remember this highly used verb.  You will be tested on this verb and indefinite articles next week.  Bonne chance!
